Facebook adds clickable Twitter-style hashtags
Facebook is set to use hashtags, the same ones used for Twitter, to allow users to keep track of popular topics being discussed online.

Hashtags are usually used not just on Twitter but on Facebook as well. Facebook users would add the "#" to indicate the topics they’re talking about. The next time these users do this, the word that comes after the "#" will become clickable.
This action will bring up a feed of what other users of social media have to say about the same topic. Users will see posts even from other people who are not in their friend’s list.
Facebook has announced this change on their news page.
Their announcement reads: “Hashtags are just the first step to help people more easily discover what others are saying about a specific topic and participate in public conversations.”
“We'll continue to roll out more features in the coming weeks and months, including trending hashtags and deeper insights, that help people discover more of the world's conversations.”
