Eynsham 5G Planning Permission

Telefonica submits an application to replace a 23-metre mast in Eynsham with a 20-metre one.

Telefonica, which owns O2, has recently submitted proposals to replace a 23-metre mast in Eynsham and replace it with a 20-metre mast with antennas, radio equipment cabinets and ancillary development works.

 

Application documents say that the taller mast will help improve the services delivered by Vodafone and Telefonica to the area, and could eventually lead to 5G services. It added that the existing tower is outdated and cannot be upgraded to allow the base station to provide 4G and 5G services. 

 

Following the submission of the documents, local residents have raised their concerns about the possible impact on their health, including the risk of radiation and mast's proximity to the playing field at Bartholomew School. 

 

Ian Jackman said: “It is not right that this should be anywhere near residential homes, it should be sited out in fields and open spaces. We have a continuous humming all day and all night.”

 

Meanwhile, Eynsham Parish Council reported no objections to the application as long as the they are given the assurance that the radiation output limits specific to the locality are complied with.
