Parts suppliers for Apple has told Nikkei Asian Review that the company plans to reduce the number of iPhones it produces by up to 66per cent. The comment came amid fears that the much-loved mobile phone is finally going out of fashion.
The decision could be prompted by the dwindling demand for the iPhone 6S.
Daniel Ives, a business analyst, added that Apple investors have endured “a miserable, dark period over the past few months.” He also claims that the demand for new iPhones has been significantly reduced in recent months.
However, many believe that Apples decision is a reflection of its success. The company may have managed to build up a good stockpile of mobile phones allowing it to cut production for the next three months without facing the risk of cellphone supply shortfall.
The Californian firm sold more than 13 million new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models in just three days after they were launched in September.
