If you’re struggling to express your emotions when writing messages on your computer or tablet, the emoji keyboard might just be for you.
EmojiWorks, an Austin-based company, has unveiled three keyboards that feature up to three emoticons on each key. The device is similar to a regular Qwerty keyboard except that it can be transformed into a smiley-typing machine by simply pushing the special “emoji” command button.
The basic version, which costs $79.95, features 47 icons, about one per key. The “Plus” model ($89.95) has 94 emoticons while the “Pro” ($99.95) features a set of 120 pictographs. Plus and Pro models allow users to select each emoji’s skin colour using special chromatic buttons.
The idea behind the product has already been tried by a California-based company Disc Cactus. The company developed a silicone cover that enabled Apple computers to type only emoji with a stroke of the Caps Lock key.
Meanwhile, Emoji developers are also trying to introduce newer and more diverse icons, as more and more people worldwide are now using them online.
