This is the dramatic moment when Emmerdale's troubled married couple come to blows in an intense rooftop climax.

The episode, filmed in real-time, sees Lexi Nicholls (Sally Oliver) force the truth out of her husband Carl (Tom Lister), to find out how he really feels about their marriage.

Carl, who was ecstatic to have become an uncle recently, told Lexi that he didnÂ’t want any children with her.

But Lexi - with newborn baby niece Angelica in her arms, who she is holding hostage on the rooftop - is devastated to find out that Carl, despite marrying her, has never loved her and never will.

Stunned by his harsh words, Lexi slowly hands Angelica back to her parents Nicola and Jimmy (Nicola Wheeler and Nick Miles), who witnessed all the drama unfold.

The couple exchange harsh words, more revelations and begin to battle over the sham of a marriage all the while moving closer and closer to the edge of the building.

An Emmerdale spokesperson said: "Lexi is heartbroken that Carl won't give her the baby she so desperately wants.

"It's crunch time for their relationship and the situation quickly gets out of hand as they move closer to the edge of the rooftop. Lexi feels she has nothing left to lose."
