Sir Elton John has boycotted D&G after Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana criticised same-sex families and the use of fertility treatments in an interview with Panorama magazine in Italy. Sir Elton John, who has two sons with husband David Furnish wrote on Instagram: “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic.”
To which, the duo replied: "It was never our intention to judge other people's choices. We do believe in freedom and love".
Meanwhile, Sir Elton received support from other celebrities. Hollywood actress Sharon Stone tweeted: "To spending [sic] time raging against a closed mind is to waste oneself, a self that can be better spent loving where that love has been removed. #boycottdolceandgabbana."
Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, whose twin sons were born to a surrogate mother, wrote: "@dolcegabbana ur voices R 2powerfull 2B spreading so much h8. Wake up, its 2015. Luv urselves guys #boycottdolcegabbana."
Courtney Love, on the other hand, sounded more furious. She wrote: "Just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana pieces, I want to burn them. I'm just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&G."
