Elsweyr: Necromancers, Dragons & ESO Gold, Oh My!
Forget about all that Elder Scrolls Gold, quests, farming, eye-candy for a sec.

Take a moment to soak in the marvellous majesty of Elsweyr. The native lands of the Khajiit race. A cat-like civilization who occupy the varied plethora of biomes found throughout these forgotten lands. From the sand-swept vistas that straddle the vast and mighty canyons. To the south, where flourishing jungles play host to all manner of wild flora and fauna.
Scattered ruins dot the dusty plains, remnants of a past civilization. On that note, every region holds within it, a stark reminder of what came before — brutal clues of the past, nestled in the terrain. And thus, symbolizing the prosperity of once great civilizations lost to the sands of time. Quite possibly, hinting at an era where the Khajiit were looked upon more favourably than the present day. But I do like to allow my mind to wander from time to time.
Elsewhere in Elsweyr, you'll venture off the beaten track with superb side quests. Many of which eclipse the class of the primary campaign. At least, from my perspective. Also, the inclusion of an all-new Necromancer class adds more significant depth. Meanwhile, the dragons, although neat, fail to live up to the legend — especially those encountered along the main questline. But thankfully, rare loot translates to ESO gold.
During your ramblings across this vast windswept landscape, you'll unearth great treasures, accumulate wealth via ESO gold, and meet the native Khajiit race. Those of whom now find themselves subservient to the imperial powers, after the hijacking of an essential stronghold. Sadly though, all that dense historical relevance plays second fiddle to the dragons, an area in which Elsweyr sometimes falls flat.
Unlike Skyrim, where dragons swoop down in random destinations, all too often catching you off guard, in Elweyr, the landing spots are definitive — or predetermined. Meaning, there's a sense of real predictability that tarnishes each brush up with an armoured beast.
Visually, the dragons look menacing, as one might expect. But their harsh difficulty levels mean you'll need to garner all the human resources possible. Even then, you're vulnerable to its devasting tail attack. Not to mention, the feral and somewhat potent dragon shout.
However, should you persevere, or rather, stick around just long enough to survive the ordeal, rewards a plentiful. Once a beast is brought down, then, a large bounty awaits. Anything from rare items and gear is known to drop, alongside a healthy offering of XP. Of course, any equipment of scarcity will fetch a decent amount of ESO Gold.
Another feature that impresses is the architecture. All around, traces of the Khajiit, and their heritage riddle the lands. For instance, detailed Temples and patterned stone structures add context and inject life into the landscape, despite its sometimes baron complexion. In truth, Elsweyr may not be on the same scale as Morrowind. But, it's overbearing canyons, outstretched vistas, and different biomes give-off a grand sense of scope.
For those that seek adventure, Elsweyr is a divine blessing. Uncovering the hidden secrets can often reap great rewards. Moreover, gaining ESO gold is a doddle, as farming rarely feels like a grind. There's just so much to do aside from the main quest that your ESO gold kitty-bank will begin to bulge in no time.
Whether you're farming raw materials or selling goods to the various merchants dotted about the place, an ESO gold revenue stream is never too far away.
All in all, Elsweyr is a superb expansion and one that deviates nicely from past DLC. Yes, the main story is a touch stale in some instances. However, a handsome host of side quests alleviates the strain of an overburdened plot. For me, it was the Khajiit and not the dragons, that stole the show. An ancient race who are struggling to survive against the forces that drive them from their homeland. To sum up, a must play for ESO fans.
