The Edinburg fringe line-up has been announced last Friday and it is shaping up to be the biggest one yet with more than 2,800 shows that will take place in every “nook and cranny” of the city.
According to organizers, the event will feature 45,464 performances in 273 venues. These include theatre, comedy, children’s show, spoken word, and of course, music.
Among 24,000 performers are politician George Galloway, comedians David Baddiel, PhillJupitus, and Al Murray. The tickets for the 1,800 shows, which were previously announced has been on sale. The remaining 1,000 shows will become available this week.
Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society chief executive Kath M Mainland said: "The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is not just important for being the largest arts festival in the world, or for being completely open access - although those things are profoundly important - but more important for being the most wonderful event, created by the spontaneous freedom of expression of tens of thousands of creative souls, from all over the world, from all walks of life, at all stages of their careers, and representing all art forms."
