The number of people who have downloaded eBooks and audiobooks during the Covid-19 lockdown has doubled compared to the same period last year, Aberdeenshire Council reveals. The news follows the council's move to allow people to make bookings through their new library click and collect system for the first time.
Based on recent figures, the number of unique users between April and June this year has reached 3,183 users, who checked out a total of 34,393 eBooks and audiobooks. During the same period last year, the total of unique users was only 1,805 and only 18,730 eBook and audiobook checkouts.
Users can now take advantage of the Aberdeenshire Council's new library click and collect system by reserving physical books or book bundles online or over the phone before collecting them from the library. The service, which is now available for Library HQ Oldmeldrum, will be made available to Banchory, Stonehaven, Ellon and Frasenburgh in the coming weeks.
