Alex Ferns, who played wife-beater Trevor Morgan on EastEnders, has branded the BBC soap "cr**".
He added that he ditches the Square from his viewing plans, and instead watches Corrie.
Ferns told BBC Radio Five Live: "EastEnders is rubbish at the moment. The storylines are cr**.
"There are some good actors. But the storylines are bad. It's so boring."
Ferns was involved in one of EastEnders' most explosive plotlines, which saw Trevor attack his wife Little Mo and end up in prison.
The storyline left the actor drained. He admitted afterwards: "The violent scenes do affect me, especially the New Year [2002] scenes. I needed time off after that, to have a rest."
He was also hassled by members of the public for his role: "Now and again I do get people threatening me [on the street] with the handbag."
Ferns admits that his latest admissions might cause strife in the Square: "I got out at the right time. I don't think I'll be invited back," he told Five Live.
