East Lindsey CCTV Working Correctly
East Lindsey District Council said that contrary to what councillors claim, CCTV cameras were working when vandals struck in Horncastle town centre.

Vandals who struck in Horncastle town centre can’t be identified because CCTV cameras that cover the areas are not working, town councillors have claimed. A seat was ripped out of the Market Place while the main bus shelter was damaged.
ELDC has since responded to claims saying that CCTV footage is available but a technical issue has initially prevented police from studying it.
ELDC’s Assistant Director (People) Samantha Neal, said: “Cameras were recording as normal in Horncastle. “A PCSO did attend the Boston control room to view footage at a time when the BT link between Skegness Police Station, where the data is stored, and Boston was temporarily unavailable which is why they couldn’t immediately view the footage. “Footage recorded remains available to the police for 30 days.”
The issue was raised in the middle of dispute over CCTV coverage in Horncastle. The town still does not have the state-of-the art CCTV cameras 12 months after an apparent deadline has elapsed. The delays have been blamed on BT for taking longer than expected to upgrade WiFi systems.
