Dundee CCTV Control Centre Update
Dundee CCTV control centre to open on December 1.
11:25 27 August 2018
Dundee CCTV control centre, which aims to help tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, will go live on December 1.
The £750,000 24/7 Safety and Alarm Response Centre (SARC) brings together footage from about 1,000 CCTV cameras in the city under one roof. This will allow Dundee City Council staff to respond to more than 6,000 residents who are supported by the community alarm service quickly and more efficiently. The centre will also pass information to police, ambulance and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service when and as needed.
The building work is set to be completed this month and the required equipment will be fitted by October 19.
Key sites that will be heavily monitored include the V&A, McManus Galleries and Dundee House. Graeme Mackenzie, service manager of community safety and resilience for the council said the council’s main priority is to preserve and protect council’s assets as any damage will have a “huge impact on resources.”
