Pete Doherty has been arrested and fined after allegedly taking drugs onboard a flight.

The former Babyshambles singer was fined by authorities in Switzerland for using drugs shortly after his British Airways flight landed, Geneva police have confirmed.

A police spokesman said: "He was arrested, tested for usage and then released after an hour and a half."

Doherty had been travelling to Switzerland to appear at the Neuchatel music festival.

He released his debut solo album, 'Grace/Wastelands', earlier in the year.

Doherty has a history of substance abuse and served time in prison last April for breaching the terms of his probation.
