Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has recently outlined its plans on how to establish a fair and inclusive economy, build a London-style integrated transport system and achieve a green industrial revolution. The plans centre on enhancing transport and infrastructure and building a digitally connected city-region.
Specific plans include developing a transport strategy that integrates walking and cycling, installing a 212km full-fiber, gigabit-capable network and using a smart ticketing system and contactless technology in ferries, buses and trains to further improve the region's transport system.
The plans also outline strategies on how to attract more inward investment into the local economy as well as initiatives in the fields of education, increasing the role of the third sector and a big housing retrofit programme.
Commenting on the whole plan, Mayor Steve Rotheram said: “If my first term was about building the machinery to deliver, then is about making sure that it fires on all cylinders, rapidly increasing the speed and scale of delivery.
“This plan is the roadmap for a greener, stronger and more equal future for our region, with better public transport, more opportunities for local people and real action to tackle climate change. Working together we’ll build a region with no-one left behind.”
