Hollywood star Cameron Diaz is set to marry pop sensation Justin Timberlake.

According to media reports, Timberlake popped the question over New Year.

The 23-year-old singer is said to have been "old-fashioned" in the proposal, going down on one knee to propose to the Charlie's Angels actress and even asking permission from his future in-laws.

According to the Daily Star, Timberlake was spotted shopping for jewellery recently and decided on a Tiffany engagement ring for his bride-to-be.

32-year-old Diaz, who starred in the hit movie Shrek as the voice of Princess Fiona, is said to be "thrilled" at the engagement.

"They are very much in love. The wedding will be very quiet affair. It will be more like that of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin - nice and discreet," a friend revealed.

No dates have been announced for the wedding but in a report late last year an insider told the Sunday Express that Timberlake's mother, Lynn, "wants the couple to enjoy a long engagement".
