A 20-metre mast could be built in Keldhomle Lane in Derby if CK Hutchison Networks' proposals are approved. The monopole will support six antennas, two transmission dishes and four equipment cabinets.
The firm, which submitted the application on behalf of Hutchinson 3G UK Ltd, says that they aim to bring increased 5G coverage to the city as well as improve 4G coverage and capacity.
The application submitted to Derby City Council reads: "The installation is for the purpose of Hutchison 3G the network operator to install its equipment to upgrade its network and to provide 5G coverage to the local area.
"The installation of a 20 metre high monopole supporting 6 no. antennas and 2 no. transmission dishes, 4 no. equipment cabinets and development works ancillary there to.
"The location has been identified as being necessary for H3G Ltd business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements.
"The identification of this location follows pre-application discussion with your department and we now make a formal application to you as planning authority.
"We trust this will be acceptable and look forward to discussing the merits of this proposal with you in the near future."
