Johnny Depp has been voted Hollywood's most popular star for the second year running.

The heartthrob actor beat a galaxy of celebrities including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to take the top spot in the poll, conducted by website imdb.com - the International Movie Database.

The website revealed the handsome 42-year-old was more searched for than any other star in 2005 - including Jennifer Aniston and Tom Cruise, whose romances were constantly in the news in the past 12 months.

Last year, Depp credited his two children and partner Vanessa Paradis for his success.

The former hellraiser, who was once renowned for his partying lifestyle, claimed becoming a father put a stop to his wild ways.

He said: "I'd go to functions and I literally had to be drunk to be able to get through it. I guess I was trying not to feel anything."

But Depp said as soon as he had children with Paradis, his desire to drink himself into a stupor vanished.
