EastEnders hunk Dennis Rickman has been voted the sexiest character to ever grace Walford.

Dennis, who is played by 31-year-old Nigel Harman, beat off strong competition from now deceased Steve Owen, played by former Spandau Ballet crooner Martin Kemp, in a poll for a special magazine to mark the show's 20th anniversary.

The man who has bedded some of the show's most beautiful women, including Sharon Watts and Zoe Slater, was given full marks for "looks, charm and sex appeal," the Daily Star reports.

"He's the hunkiest hunk ever to prop up the Queen Vic bar," the magazine declared.

Runner-up Steve was hailed by the poll as "Walford's smoothest operator and the show's most grown-up hunk", who brought "class" to a series better known for market stalls and petty gangsters.

The Mitchell brothers also forced their way into the list, with Grant, played by Ross Kemp, coming fourth and Phil (Steve McFadden) propping up the top ten.
