After defeating Dereck Chisora with triple knockouts, David Haye might just get his wish to fight Vitali Klitschko granted.
Klitschko, current WBC heavyweight champ, is being tempted by Haye for one last showdown. For the Ukrainian boxer, this could mean delaying his political career, which he is set to be elected for just after his title-defending match with Manuel Charr this coming September.
According to Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente, the boxer is supposed to be elected to a political office shortly after the Charr match but that ‘he (Klitschko) would again put on the gloves for Hayes.’
This follows shortly after David Haye dealt a devastating defeat to Dereck Chisora, with Klitschko reportedly saying that he will fight Haye if he beats Chisora.
Haye, 31, however, said that he ‘will not be ready to fight Vitali this year’.
“But if I was one of his advisers and saw what I did to Chisora, I know what I would be telling him – and it wouldn’t be to fight me,” Haye added.
This is not the first time that the two boxers are being tempted to fight each other. “We came close to exchanging contracts with Vitali once before, but then it suddenly went quiet,” he recounted.
