Dad’s Army star Bill Pertwee has died
Bill Pertwee, known by many for his role in Dad’s Army, has passed away at the age of 86

Bill Pertwee, who played the role of Warden William Hodges in the TV show Dad’s Army, has died aged 86. Bill’s agent confirmed the sad news of his death.
Reportedly Bill was taken to hospital at the weekend (Sunday, 26th May), before passing away on Monday, 27th May, 2013.
His agent stated that Bill died peacefully and that his loved ones were with him.
Bill’s son, Jonathan, has said: “He would give everything a go. He was very dedicated to the people around him and he was very dedicated to his charity work.”
Bill was well-known for his role in Dad’s Army, where his character would often say “Put that light out!”.
Aside from the popular World War Two TV programme, Bill also had a part in You Rang M'Lord? – the TV series that hit our screens in the early 90’s – where he played PC Wilson.
During his successful career, Bill also featured in a number of Carry On movies. And in 1999 he starred in ‘This is Your Life’.
Bill, who was born in Amersham, leaves behind his son Jonathon. His wife sadly passed away eight years ago.
