Hundreds of fans gathered in Cannes at the premiere of animated film Shrek 2 yesterday.
The event at the Cannes Film Festival was attended by the movie's cast, including Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Cameron Diaz, looking stunning in a strapless cream dress.
Diaz, 31, arrived at the premiere alone, but was joined by pop star boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who is currently in Cannes promoting his fledgling movie career.
Other celebs posing on the red carpet before the premiere included Angelina Jolie and Rod Stewart's girlfriend Penny Lancaster. Other stars who provided voices for the film, including Rupert Everett, Jennifer Saunders and Dame Julie Andrews, were also in attendance.
The original Shrek film, featuring Myers as a green ogre with a Scottish accent, was a hit in 2001 and also played at the Cannes Film Festival - the first cartoon in 27 years to be entered into the main competition.
The computer generated fairytale is competing for the festival's main prize - the Palme D'or - against more serious flicks such as Walter Salles' Che Guevara chronicle The Motorcycle Diaries, Michael Moore's documentary Fahrenheit 911 and Wong Kar-wai's drama 2046.
DreamWorks is now planning Shrek 3 and 4, with the third already in production.
