• First Test—(6-10 March): This was a five day match, though poor light and heavy rain. New Zealand had won the toss and put England into bat, but the match was called off after the tea interval, which essentially made it a four-day game rather than the five day game.Newcomer Steven Finn struck his first fifty and played a part in avoiding a loss.
