Coventry to Receive 5G Transformation
5G to transform Coventry's various industries, ranging from healthcare to public transportation.

Coventry is set to experience all the benefits that 5G technology can offer - from doctors assessing patients at the comforts of their own home to self-driving cars and augmented reality games, Coventry is on its way to becoming one of UK's smart cities.
Coventry's 5G accelerator will be built by a consortium led by Telefonica UK who won the major contract from West Midlands 5G. One of the first applications to be tested would be on the city's transport services.
Robert Franks, managing director of West Midlands 5G said: "West Midlands 5G is working in partnership with Coventry City Council and mobile operators to accelerate this rollout and to work with businesses and public sector organisations to test, prove and scale new 5G services - such as in the areas mentioned above."
"For example, Coventry will be one of the first locations that we start testing 5G transport services - given Coventry's leadership in transport and manufacturing - and we are also seeking to engage thousands of Coventry-based businesses and public sector organisations in the new 5G Accelerator innovation centre that we will be launching there in the next few months."
5G is the next-generation mobile technology that offers up to 10 times faster speed than 4G. It is powerful and reliable enough to connect up to 20 times more devices and guarantee real-time connectivity for time-critical applications.
