A couple who were suspected of trying to blackmail star Stevie Wonder for $5million were sentenced to jail it has emerged, after striking a plea bargain agreement with the prosecutors.
Alpha Walker, who is related to the singer, and his girlfriend, Tamara Diaz, allegedly tried to put the singer in a negative light by attempting to sell an 80-minute video. The film contained footage taken in the former house of the singer’s late mother, as reported by Digital Spy.
The couple was arrested in May when police and Wonder and his lawyer informed police after Walker allegedly asked for $5million dollars in exchange for the videotape.
Spokesman of LA district attorney has confirmed that Walker got 292 days after pleading no contest to extortion. He was later released on time served.
As part of his three-year probation, Walker is required to attend 78 sessions of Narcotic Anonymous and mental health classes. His girlfriend was also released for time served on her jail sentence.
