Corrie teen in £90k con
The Street's rich girl is about to be duped out of her money...
09:32 07 August 2009
Coronation Street's Rosie Webster is conned out of £90,000 in a fake investment requested by her lover.
Rosie, played by Helen Flanagan, is overjoyed when she finally gets together with Underworld factory boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly), who she has been infatuated with since his arrival.
But Luke takes advantage of her trust and persuades her to sell her share of the business, which he says will make them both rich.
Rosie came into big money when prisoner John Stape paid her £125,000 to ease his conscience for kidnapping her.
She is also under the impression that Luke is the owner of Underworld when in reality he is only running the factory for Carla Connor (Alison King).
As Carla's return is due, Luke wants to flee the street before she arrives and takes back her position as the factory boss.
He convinces Rosie to transfer the money into his account and to keep the 'investment' a secret from her family.
He tells her: "Imagine their faces when you make the big announcement. It will be brilliant."
But unfortunately for Rosie, Luke withdraws the money and books a one way flight to Rio.
Kelly announced that he was leaving the Weatherfield soap in June.
