Coronation Street's Nikki Sanderson could follow in the footsteps of other singing soap stars after showing off her vocal talents.

The actress who plays Candice Stowe on the hit ITV series has reportedly attracted the attentions of record bosses after appearing on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes.

Nikki, 20, blasted out a Britney Spears classic on the show last April and proved that she has been blessed with singing as well as acting skills.

And now record company Universal, who also have U2, Snow Patrol and the Sugababes on their books, are interested in snapping the young starlet up, the Sun reports.

"She is seriously thinking about life after Corrie and a Kylie-style music career is something she would definitely consider," a source told the newspaper.

"She has always wanted to be a singer but her acting career took off first."

Music industry bosses approached the Blackpool-born actress' agents just after Christmas and are thought to want her to sign a deal to produce three singles and an album.

Corrie fans should not be too worried though, as Nikki has only recently signed a six-month extension to her contract with the soap.
