Corrie: Spoiler alert!
Dramatic scenes as character 'attempts suicide'...
09:07 27 July 2011
Underworld factory boss Carla Connor will try to take her own life in a dramatic storyline set to air this September.
According to The Sun, Carla, played by Alison King, will be left devastated after Frank Foster sexually assaults her.
She then reports her ordeal to police and Frank, played by Andrew Lance, is arrested.
However, Carla faces another blow, as she declares her love for Peter Barlow and is knocked back for the second time.
Viewers will then see Carla decide there is nothing to live for; downing red win and overdosing on sleeping tablets.
She then rings Peter to tell him what she has done, prompting him to call an ambulance and rush over to see her.
A Coronation Street insider told the newspaper:
"Carla is at rock bottom. She prides herself on being invincible and feels utterly broken by Frank's actions.
"Peter is the only friend she has left and she's never felt rejection like it. She wants to end it all."
Viewers will be left wondering if Carla will survive - and if this will change Barlow's feelings for her.
The gripping scenes are being filmed this week and will air in September.
Catch Coronation Street Monday, Thursday and Friday nights on ITV1.
