Coronation Street’s Michael Le Vell is charged with child sex offences
The actor, who plays Kevin Webster, was arrested by Manchester Police and charged with 19 sex offences

Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell, whose actual name is Michael Turner, was charged with 19 sex offences on Thursday, 14th February, after being arrested by police. The charges against him include the rape of a child, sexual activity with a child and indecently assaulting a child.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: “A man has been charged with 19 child sex offences.
"Michael Turner, of Byrom Street, Hale, has been charged with 19 offences including raping a child, indecently assaulting a child and sexual activity with a child.”
The 48-year-old is expected to appear in court later this month on 27th February.
Le Vell, who lives in Hale, Cheshire, was previously arrested in September 2011 over child sex offences but this was not taken further.
His arrest this week came as a result of the Crown Prosecution Service reviewing evidence, it emerged on Thursday night.
The spokesperson from the police explained that: "The charges, which were authorised by the CPS following a review of evidence, relate to offences against a child between 2001 and 2010."
The charges against Le Vell relate to incidents that allegedly took place between 2001 and 2010.
The actor is known for his part in ITV’s Coronation Street, in which Le Vell plays mechanic Kevin Webster. He has starred in the soap for around three decades.
