Balderton Parish Council is set to install CCTV cameras at the Coronation Street Park in an effort to prevent anti-social behaviour. The initiative will cost the council around £8,100 per year.
Mrs Cheryl Davison-Lyth, Balderton Parish Council clerk, said: "During the summer, there were incidents that included the death of wildlife and noise offences. Birds had been killed by catapults and there was also cases of younger people using big boomboxes, playing loud music at anti-social hours.
"There was also a concern with the amount of rubbish left under the tree's in the shaded areas, which was where wildlife had been killed.
"As there was lovely weather in the summer a lot of people were using the park.
"There were intimidating groups of 15 to 20 people in three to four cars.
"I can only assume they were school or college students as it has started to slow down now term time has started again."
The cameras will be trialled for two months.
Mr Terry Bailey, of Newark and Sherwood District Council's Community Safety Partnership, said: "The council want to be assured it will be of benefit to the area before spending a significant amount of money, said Mrs Davison-Lyth.
"We want to spend the parish money wisely, so it is a careful process."
