UK ISP Community Fibre has hit its target and has successfully launched a 1000Mbps capable ultrafast fibre optic (FTTP/H) broadband network to London Borough of Wandsworth. This benefits 10,000 users living in Savona, Patmore, Carey Gardens, Doddington, Kambala, Rollo, Surrey Lane, Winstanley and York Road, Ashburton, Arndale and William Willison estates. Another 10,000 users from Doris Emmerton Court and Holmleigh Court sheltered schemes will also have access to the service within this year.
Clare Salier, Council’s Housing Spokesperson, said: “Fast, reliable broadband is not a luxury – these days it’s a necessity. We want Wandsworth to be London’s most connected borough and this ultrafast service means people living on our estates can truly make the most of fast online access and all the benefits that brings.”
The council’s partnership with Community Fibre aims to offer more than 20,000 homes access to ultrafast network over the next few years. The progress is impressive especially because the ISP has only hit 5,500 homes mark in 2017. The firm has recently secured £11.3million of private equity investment and plans to deploy internet service to Hammersmith and Fulham.
