Clooney and Mirren top sexiest over 50 poll

George Clooney and Helen Mirren are the sexiest celebrities aged over 50 according to a film survey.

A poll, which coincided with the DVD and Blu-ray release of Red 2 (aka Retired and Extremely Dangerous II), has named Hollywood royalty Helen Mirren as the female sexiest celebrity aged over 50. The Oscar award-winning actress picked up 25per cent of the women’s vote. George Clooney was voted her male counterpart on this poll.

Mirren started enjoying a renewed appreciated as a sex symbol a couple of years ago when she was photographed wearing a bikini on a beach in Italy. The pictures went round the world.

Other celebrities who made it to the list include Michelle Pfeiffer, Demi Moore, Kim Basinger, and Sharon Stone.

The poll, which was participated by 2,000 film fans, also voted George Clooney as the sexiest man aged over 50 (39%). Other celebrities who made it in this category are Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, and Bruce Willis.

A spokesman for the film Red 2, which also stars 58-year-old Bruce Willis as a retired CIA agent, said: "It's clear from the results of the poll that being over 50, or even 60, doesn't mean you're over the hill - as the high-octane action of Red 2 shows."
