You can experience bloating, headaches, bad moods, and even be at a higher risk of developing colon cancer.
There is no doubt that cleaning your colon is a good idea, and you can do this in a natural way with the following guide.
Water power
A simple way to cleanse your colon is to drink more water. Those who want to clean their colon are going to have to drink a considerable amount of water throughout the day.
It may even be a good idea to eat more high-water foods, such as watermelons or lettuce, just to name a few options. Make sure the water you consume throughout the day is lukewarm for optimal results.
Good bacteria
Part of the reason you want to start a colon cleanse is because bad bacteria can form within your body. This could lead to all sorts of issues, like infections or even parasitic infections, but a cleanse is a natural way to fix the problem. One way to deal with this problem is to add probiotics to your cleansing plan.
These good bacteria help create an additional layer of protection in your colon to help keep those bad things out of your system. It also aids digestion, which should do wonders for your cleansing plan. Probiotics can be found naturally in things like yogurt or naturally fermented foods or in pills sold in your local health food stores.
Juicing
Another great way to start fasting naturally is to include more fruit and vegetable smoothies or juices. There are a lot of cleansing diets out there asking you to go for a smoothie or juice fast, but this is not necessary as long as you add them to your diet. You want to make sure the fruit or vegetable you juice or make into a smoothie contains the fiber.
Some juicing machines remove the pulp and skin from the vegetables or fruit you are going to drink, which is not good. The fiber you need to cleanse your colon is mostly in the pulp and on the skin of the fruit or vegetables you are trying to juice. Do your best to include these ingredients into your smoothies, or juices as much as possible to get the best results.
High fiber foods
You can find fiber in plenty of fruits and vegetables, but those who really want to use it to clean their colon may need to find it in high amounts. There are a few options for you if you want to jam pack your diet with items that contain a lot of this micronutrient that helps bulk up any excess matter inside your colon.
For example, you can eat more grains, nuts, seeds, and leafy greens. You want to make sure you stick to dark, leafy greens rather than the regular light-colored greens for better effect. Fiber also helps regulate your digestion, especially those who suffer from constipation or overactive bowels. Cleaning house makes it easier for good bacteria to survive, and you already know how important those are to your overall health.
Saltwater drink
If you have been dealing with irregularities like constipation for a while, you may want to try a salt-water cleanse. This is a bit more powerful, but it can definitely help clean out your colon a little better if you need it. What you want to do is add about two teaspoons of sea salt in lukewarm water, and drink that. You are going to want to do this twice a day in the morning and at night.
It may be a good idea to stay near your home or inside so that you can go to the restroom because it may cause you to go to the restroom right after. The urge may be quick, so you really do not want to be on this particular cleanse if you are going to be away from a private restroom. You can stop this cleanse after a week or two, and then give your body a rest before starting up again.
Vitamin C approach
Vitamin C is especially helpful for colon cleansing, and it is easily incorporated into your cleansing plan. There is a lot of fruit out there with a bounty of vitamin C, like lemons. You can make some fresh lemon juice, and add a little bit of sea salt to a drink a few times a day.
Make sure the juice is lukewarm before drinking it and do so only for a few days. What you are going to be doing is loosening up the mucous within the colon, which should help release some of the things that are backed up inside. You are going to want to stay near your home when you begin this cleanse because you will need to go to the restroom a few times a day, but it will be worth it in the end.
Herbal power
You can also try to use some herbs or teas to help you through this cleanse. Of course, tea already has a lot of water, so you know that's going to be helpful, but the added herbs are meant to facilitate things for you a bit. For example, ginger should help stimulate digestion juices to make it easier for you to pass waste.
Cayenne pepper and garlic are both strong antibacterial additions to your cleansing that could help kill bad bacteria. Your backed up colon might already have some bad bacteria growing, so you will need to find a way to combat them, and this should work. Sure, both of these are pretty strong, but your health is worth the discomfort.
These are just some natural ways you can tackle your cleanse, but you can talk to your nutritionist for additional suggestions. You can also talk to your doctor who can help guide you during your cleanse and monitor your body's reaction as you go along.
