Coronation Street's wettest butcher looks set to have a very merry Christmas, with a December 25th wedding to girlfriend Claire Casey.

Ashley Peacock's wedding seems to be the opening gambit in the annual holiday season ratings battle between Weatherfield and Albert Square.

The blonde widower will wed Claire (Julia Haworth) in a typically festive manner.

"The Peacocks will get married in a snow-covered Coronation Street," producer Tony Wood has said.

The marriage is just part of an explosive few months in Weatherfield, which will see a full complement of hatches, matches and dispatches.

"The storyline with Dev Alahan, Sunita Parekh and Maya Sharma is heading for an explosive finish," Wood added.

Additionally, diabetic teenaged temptress Katy Harris is set to weigh in by becoming pregnant with middle-aged nurse Martin Platt's child.

The storyline could be a factor in the Street exit of her parents Tommy and Angela.

"The baby could tip [Tommy] over the edge. He's capable of anything," a Street source told the Daily Mirror.

"But Katy is determined to cement her relationship with Martin," they added.
