Chiles: I'm repellent
TV presenter ashamed of Daybreak performance...
10:16 04 January 2011
TV presenter Adrian Chiles has said that he could not bear to watch himself fronting ITV1 morning breakfast show, Daybreak.
The 43-year-old also said that finds the sight of himself on screen "repellent".
Chiles has repeatedly come under fire since the show was launched in September 2010, for being 'too grumpy' for breakfast television.
Now, he has admitted that he cannot bear to watch himself or the show and was made to watch it by his co-host, Christine Bleakley.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Chiles said:
"I still donÂ’t like to look at myself in the monitor. I literally canÂ’t bear the sight of myself. I find it just repellent.
"In 20 years on telly IÂ’ve probably spent 20 minutes watching myself."
He also spoke about the criticism the show has received in the past:
‘You’re up at 3.45am. Reading all the papers about how you’re useless, your co-presenter is a slapper, the programme’s s***, and your whole life’s a disaster."
Daybreak experienced a surge in popularity before Christmas, hitting the one million ratings mark, but Chiles claimed this was down the the snow and bad weather.
Catch Daybreak, mornings on ITV1.
