Cheryl Cole has reportedly been sacked from her role as a judge on the US X Factor and replaced by the show's host, Nicole Scherzinger.
Sources have said that Cole has been dropped from the panel because producers were concerned that her Geordie accent would be too difficult to understand.
US entertainment website TMZ is also reporting that the Cole "lacked chemistry" with fellow judge, Paula Abdul.
Cole, 27, only started filming on the programme over in the States two weeks ago.
Rumours are now flying that the Fight for this Love singer will return to the British version of the show.
A source told The Sun:
"It hasn't worked out. She's homesick and wants to return to the UK.
"She's had enough. Whether she ends up back on UK X Factor is open to speculation."
After months of speculation, it was finally confirmed on 5 May that Cheryl was joining the US X Factor as a judge.
Now, former Pussycat Doll and girlfriend of F1 ace Lewis Hamilton, Nicole Scherzinger is said to be joining Abdul, Simon Cowell and LA Reid on the panel.
She had been filling the role of co-host alongside former T4 star Steve Jones.
Scherzinger stood in for Dannii Minogue on last year's series of the UK X Factor while she was on maternity leave.
