A 31-year-old teacher has encouraged his students to cheat by asking them to change their answers whilst they sat the tests. Because of this, the Sats results for the entire year were declared null and void.
Teacher Ian Guffick has been investigated following reports of possible exam maladministration at Mitton Manor Primary School, Tewkesbury, Glouctestershire.
On banning Guffick from the classroom for two years, NCTL panel chair Martin Pilkington said:
‘It finds that this conduct not only falls significantly below the standard expected: it was dishonest.
‘Whilst the panel accepts that Mr Guffick may have felt under pressure to achieve good results for himself and the school, that can in no way excuse his behaviour.
