Emmerdale's Chas is forced to choose between defending her dishonest dad and coming clean with her copper boyfriend when Shadrach's behaviour gets out of control.

Lucy Pargeter's character will tonight have to intervene when dad Shadrach is caught peeing in the street and passers-by call in Denzel to lay down the law.

But when Shadrach, played by Andy Devine, steals Denzel's police car and drives it into a ditch, Chas finds herself having to lie to her lover about what has happened.

Denzel, played by Danny Lawrence, is furious when he finds out the truth - and warns Chas that their relationship will be over if she lies to him again.

Chas is distraught at what her father is doing, while secretly also fearing that her man troubles might drive her back into the arms of former love Carl.

But she has little time to think of that when Shadrach messes up yet again - this time by stealing booze from Viv's shop.

Chas joins the family in hiding the evidence but is forced to choose where her loyalty lies when Denzel turns up on official business.
