Channel 4 launches new headquarter in Leeds.

Channel 4 has recently opened its new headquarters in Leeds. Operating from the Majestic building, a century-old former cinema that will house a team of 200, it will allow the firm to broadcast direct from West Yorkshire.

 

Channel 4 has chosen Leeds over Manchester and Birmingham, a potentially game-changing move for UK’s creative sector nationwide. However, it is also opening a new hub in Glasgow, which will look for stories from Northern Ireland as well as Edinburgh as the rest of the Scotland, and a new office in Bristol, which will connect with TV companies in the West and Midlands.

 

Sinead Rocks, Channel 4’s managing director for nations and regions, said: “This is not about tokenistic programming. It can’t be underestimated how big a shift this is for Channel 4, because throughout its entire history it has been based in one building from a creative point of view.”
