CCTV in Bury St Edmunds
Councillor Julia Waklam wants CCTV cameras to be installed in Bury St Edmunds to stop vandalism.

St Edmundsbury borough councillor Julie Wakelam is calling for the installation of CCTV cameras after cars were vandalised and two trees were damaged in nearby Northgate Avenue three weeks ago. She is asking the council to install the cameras at either end of Malthouse Lane to include the Thingoe Hill and Malthouse Bridge area.
She said: "We need CCTV down there. It's just heartbreaking to ruin people's environment like that. It was a beautiful tree and we need trees there to keep our air clear.
"We seem to have had a big increase in graffiti and litter throughout the town.
"What possible pleasure could they get out of doing that - it just beggars belief."
A council spokesman said that 'helping support community safety and the work of the police is a priority'.
He added: "While we have not been made aware of vandalism in the area we will ask the police about any local incidents and what is the best way forward collectively to tackle the problem.
"As part of that work we would include talking to Cllr Wakelam about her concerns and ideas going forward."
