CCTV Gains Public Approval
More people now accept the idea of being watched for their own security.

Recent figures have confirmed that there are currently 4.2million cameras watching the United Kingdom 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This number equates to one camera for every 14 people in the country. London, which currently has 500,000 cameras in operation, is currently one of the most watched cities in the world.
The use of CCTV cameras was previously considered an intrusive form of surveillance. Many people did not like the idea of being watched whenever they are out and about. However, there seems to have been change in the attitude as many people are now willing to trade their privacy for improved security. Many have also expressed their desire to join television programme Big Brother where they would be spied upon 24 hours a day while living at the house.
Although there is still an ongoing debate as to whether CCTV cameras prevent crimes, it would seem that people now are more convinced that this form of surveillance make the process of identifying criminals and putting them behind bar much easier.
