The Huntingdonshire District Council and Cambridge City Council CCTV Shared Service is now one of only 10 Local Authority CCTV service teams in the country to secure three sector-specific service CCTV accreditations.
The Shared Service earned the ISO 900-2015, which is an internationally-recognised standard that focuses on the operational management and working of the control room, including human resources and finance. It also secured the BS7958: Control Room Management and Operations, a high-level certification at British Standard compliance. In addition, it also passed the Surveillance Cameras Commissioners Code of Compliance by The Information Commissioners Office (ISO), which gives a level of compliance to the 12 guarding principles.
Executive Councillor for Leisure, Waste and Street Scene for Huntingdonshire District Council, Cllr Simone Taylor, said: “We are really pleased to have confirmation that the CCTV Shared Service has achieved all three of the accreditations that it was working so hard towards over the past year. The achievement of these accreditations shows that the service is performing at the highest possible standard and providing real value locally in Huntingdonshire and across wider Cambridgeshire.
“The service continues to move from strength to strength in becoming a real asset for the District Council. As one of the few Local Authority CCTV control rooms to reach this standard we are extremely proud.”
Cllr Alice Gilderdale, Executive Councillor for Recovery, Employment and Community Safety, for Cambridge City Council said: “Receiving these accreditations highlights the benefits and successes of partnership working and the excellent standard at which these shared services are being delivered.
“Being one of the few Local Authorities CCTV control rooms in the country to achieve this level of quality standards speaks volumes to this.
“Public protection is a priority for us, so I hope that by gaining these accreditations it will show our residents of Cambridge and Huntingdonshire how determined we are to provide the highest quality service.”
