Jim Carrey's teenage daughter saved him from depression.
The comic actor - who has been haunted by a string of failed relationships and a troubled early family life - was in therapy and admits taking anti-depressants.
But the 43-year-old star says he's finally enjoying life thanks to his 18-year-old daughter Jane, from his marriage to ex-wife Melissa Womer.
He revealed to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I look forward to the time I spend with her. Nothing really compares to that. That's my current focus.
"Everything else is secondary."
The star added: "It wasn't like that the whole time. My priorities were different earlier on. But life has a way of showing you. First you have to experience sheer loneliness. You go through a period feeling kind of vacant. Then you realise, 'Oh, that's what other people are here for.'"
Carrey - who was once engaged to actress Renée Zellweger - also revealed he wished he could use his failed romances as material for his comedy - but never remembers enough about the relationships.
He said: "I wish that when you are going through hard times with women, you could have the presence of mind to say, 'This is going to pay off some day, I'm going to be able to use this in a really funny comedy.'"
He added: "You wish you could remember that when you have been gutted by a girl and you have had your heart ripped out and you are lying splayed out on the rocks. But it never occurs to you at the time."
