Care Homes Use Smart Technology

Crookfur retirement homes have been transformed into high-tech digitally enabled assisted living facilities.

Commsworld has rolled out high-speed connectivity across the Hugh Fraser Retirement Estate in partnership with retailTrust, the trade charity for the retail sector and leading UK assisted-living provider. The move has allowed retirement homes to be fitted with top of the range smart technology and sensors. 

 

Residents of 120 assisted living homes will have total control of lighting activation, heating and doorbells allowing them to live more independently. The platform also allows them to make telephone calls easily as well as listen to music and the radio. 

 

Mags, a resident with multiple sclerosis, scoliosis and asthma has previously struggled to handle light switches and manoeuvre around the cramped space in her wheelchair. 

 

She said: "I feel I have made the best decision ever coming to the Hugh Fraser Retirement Estate. It takes a lot of weight off my family as they know that I am much happier and in a lovely safe environment." 

 

Commsworld chief executive Ricky Nicol said: "We are delighted to provide this valuable solution to the residents and staff at the Hugh Fraser Retirement Estate in Crookfur.
