Cardiff CCTV Figures
Cardiff is the fourth most watched city in the UK, recent figures have found.

A new report has found that Cardiff, the tenth largest city in the UK by population, is surprisingly the fourth most watched city in the UK.
According to a company called Get Licensed, which provides training on all things CCTV, there are currently 1,022 cameras in Cardiff in total, making it one of the top 20 most watched areas in the whole of the United Kingdom. Fife in Scotland, which has 1,158 cameras, is on top of the list, followed by Southampton with 1,150 and Leeds with 1,066 cameras.
Cardiff Council spends £658,638 a year to staff who operates the cameras and an additional £248,629 on camera maintenance.
The report also revealed that we now have a total of 3,421 CCTV cameras in the country. The cost of operating all of them in terms of staff is about £2million a year. The country is also paying additional £850,000 yearly on maintenance cost. Meanwhile, the UK has a total of 46,950 cameras, which costs local authorities more than £31million a year to operate and an additional £10million in maintenance costs.
