Carbon Saving Intelligent Street Lights

Surrey County Council to install 89,000 smart street lights in a move that will help the county save 7,700 tonnes of carbon annually.

Surrey County Council is set to replace or retrofit 89,000 streetlamps to save around 7,700 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

 

Urban Control has been appointed to deliver a ‘smart city’ capable upgrade to the council’s streetlights and upgrade the existing central management system (CMS) so it will have the capacity to grow and adapt to the council’s future needs.

 

The scheme, which is expected to be completed in three years, will be managed by the council’s street light contractor Skanska. It will see the installation of energy efficient LEDs across the county.
