A team of researchers from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto has conducted an experiment, which proved that young blood can be used to heal old bones.
In the experiment, the blood was drawn from young mice played a crucial role in healing fractured bones in older animals. Fractured shin bones of old mice healed faster and better.
This is the latest experiment in using young blood to provide effective treatment for the elderly who are suffering from memory loss, muscle atrophy, and heart degradation. Experts believe that young blood, which contains molecule, lowers the high levels of beta-catenin found in older bones and promotes healthier bone growth.
Benjamin Alman, co-author of the study, said it could one day be possible to develop a drug for humans that can "rejuvenate fracture healing".
