Argyll and Bute's council meetings to be streamed starting next week.
07:45 06 December 2021
Council meetings in Argyll and Bute will be live-streamed starting next week as part of a trial ahead of a full roll-out in 2022.
The local authority confirmed that two key council committee meetings will be available to view online on December 9 and 14. These are the meetings of the policy and resources committee and the audit and scrutiny committee. All councillors involved in the said two meetings will join remotely, while the council explores the idea of introducing hybrid meetings starting in January.
Executive director Douglas Hendry said: “The equipment which will facilitate hybrid meetings to take place in the council chambers has been installed and is being tested.
“The equipment will offer the option for members and officers to participate in meetings without physically being in the council chamber.
“Initial issues with microphone sound were identified but these have now been resolved by the supplier. The equipment has been tested for a hybrid meeting and works well.
“Training and familiarisation sessions have taken place during November with key staff. Some officer only meetings have taken place in the chambers using the Hybrid solution and these have operated successfully.
“It is proposed to begin training and familiarisation sessions with members in late November and early December.”
