Doctors have reportedly warned ex-Westlife singer Brian McFadden to stay away from estranged wife Kerry as the distraught mother of two battles depression in London's exclusive Priory clinic.

The Sun newspaper claims that medics are concerned that Kerry's health could deteriorate further if she sees her former partner.

The former Atomic Kitten singer booked into the clinic a week ago after the strain of the couple's marriage break-up became too much.

Brian's parents have reportedly been looking after the couple's two young daughters during Kerry's stay at the clinic.

Kerry's friends have reportedly told The Sun that the split with her husband has brought back painful memories of her own difficult childhood, when the star was looked after by a series of foster parents.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reports that Kerry will be jetting away from it all when she leaves the Priory next week.

A "close" friend of the 24-year-old star told the paper that she would be spending Christmas somewhere hot with female pals.

"She's devastated she won't be with her kids on Christmas Day. Being a good mum is her No 1 priority, but she also needs to sort her head out after what's been a terrible year," the unnamed friend told The Mirror.

Kerry, a former winner of the reality TV show, "I'm A Celebrity..." is reportedly set to return to our screens next year when she will appear in a new movie called Showband.
