Boy band star Matt Willis of Busted fame has been added to the cast of BBC soap EastEnders.
16:31 19 December 2013
Matt Willis, the star of the band Busted (and its McFly merging supergroup McBusted) will play the role of Luke, the boyfriend of Stacey Branning, who is played by Lacey Turner, in upcoming episodes of EastEnders.
His role was described as ambitious and devoted to his girlfriend.
Willis announced the news, saying: "I am so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I grew up watching EastEnders, so this is really exciting for me."
He started filming in mid December and will be seen on the show when it’s broadcasted in 2014.
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: "I've always loved Matt and it will be a real treat for viewers to watch him and Lacey together on screen as part of her return to the square.
"Luke gives as good as he gets, so is a great foil to Stacey. Pity she's been lying to him since the day she met him."
Willis first rose to fame in the boy band Busted. He then joined and won the reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Recently, he together with former bandmate James Bourne confirmed that they will collaborate with another boy band (McFly) to create the supergroup McBusted.
