Bill Roache faced court over rape charges

Coronation Street star Bill Roache has appeared in court to face rape charges. He is accused or raping a 15-year-old girl back in 1967.

The actor, who is a Guiness record holder for being the world’s longest-serving soap actor, has denied all allegations.

Appearing for the first time at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 14th May, the actor spoke only to confirm his full name, address and date of birth.

The 81-year-old has been bailed until next month. The bail was granted on the condition that he will stay at his home in Cheshire or that of a relative’s in London.

He is also prohibited to have unsupervised contact with anyone who is younger than 16 years old. His case was committed to crown court for a hearing on June 10th.
